Hey there, I'm Pete Smissen, the host of the Aussie English Podcast, and today, I'm going to teach you how to speak like an Australian by nailing the linking vowel sounds with w or y or r!
I often get asked questions like:
- How do I link two vowel sounds together in English?
- When do I use the /r/, /w/ or /y/ sound when linking vowels?
- How can I sound Australian? / How can I do an Australian accent?
- How to speak english like an Australian?
- How and when do I use the intrusive r and linking r in English?
- How to do linking vowel sounds with w or y?
Australian English pronunciation is different from American English and British English pronunciation, so if you want to nail that Australian accent when speaking English, there are three rules to learn when linking vowel sounds.
There's linking vowel sounds with y, linking vowels with w, or using the intrusive r or linking r to link vowel sounds.
Today, I'm going to teach you how and when to link vowel sounds in spoken English, so you can speak like an Australian and perfect that Australian accent!
Let me know what you think in a comment below :) Which of these sounds is the hardest for you to pronounce?
