Portrait painting: How to make transitions and soft edges. By ben lustenhouwer

In this shortened version I show how I paint transitions and soft edges in a portrait. For example, where the hair touches the forehead. The complete video will be launched next week. More than two and a half hours with all the information you want to know.
My model is a good friend. I took the photos a few years ago.
Actually, this portait is about her eyes. I want to draw the maximum attention there.
What just can't be seen in the video: I make the Mauve color with Ultramarine Blue + Alizarine Crimson. And I added Titanium White.

The rest of my usual palette: Titanium White, Yellow ochre, Cadmium Red Deep, Terra Rosa, Transparent Oxide Red, Alizarine Crimson, Viridian green, Ultramarine Blue, Raw Umber and Ivory Black.

I did not use any medium in the beginning. Later I used a self mixed medium: 50% neutral drying medium + 50% stand oil. Only to add some soft brushstrokes.
