Skooliepalooza 2020: Why we left our Airstream

We travelled in our Airstream to the Skooliepalooza event that occurred January 20, 2020 on BLM land near Ehrenberg, Arizona. We were so inspired by all of the creativity and innovation that goes into converting school busses into RVs (skoolies). Unfortunately, before we could really get a chance to explore the Skoolie community, our whole family ended up sick with a stomach virus. Illness by itself is challenging while boondocking, but when our black tank quickly filled up we had to break camp until we recovered. We ponder the idea of converting our toilet to a composting toilet so that we would never need to worry about a black-tank system (sewage) filling up while boondocking. Every skoolie we saw had chosen to install a composting toilet. While we were in the area, we visted an RV show and playground in Quartzsite, AZ.
