Deathless at last! Still a few minutes to save, but at this point I'll be racing against some solid splits.
Techniques:
Tongue Jump - The B button is mashed right after jumping, which gives Yoshi extra height on the jump. The faster you mash B, the higher your jump. It's particularly difficult because you must mash B while holding A.
Dustless - A ground pound used immediately before landing, which results in no end lag whatsoever. Powerless, but can be used to uncover secret melons. Rather difficult to execute. Each dustless ground pound saves about 40 frames (2/3 of a second).
Egg Jump - An egg is thrown immediately after a jump to give Yoshi extra height. You can also gain height by charging and canceling the egg rather than throwing it. Used sometimes instead of tongue jump, usually when flutter is also necessary. You can use this technique to fly higher than even the highest flutter, making some areas reachable before they should be.
Glide Toss - An egg is charged for the shortest allowed time, then released after a short hop. This throws an egg straight forward without Yoshi losing any forward momentum.
Egg Charging - Aiming an egg. When Yoshi is Super Happy, charging an egg and then canceling will add a new egg to Yoshi's inventory. Adding new eggs can also be done while moving by glide tossing an egg and quickly licking it back.
