Worcester Bosch ECO button - what is it and what does it do?

The worcester combination boilers have a preheat function that you can turn off and on with the ECO button.
When the ECO mode is on the boiler will no longer preheat and it may take longer for the water from your taps to run hot, however you will save money on your gas.
If ECO is off and preheat is on then the boiler will fire up for a few seconds at random times of the day and night.
