Beboppers of Hot Springs Village

If hearing a “golden oldie” makes you want to sing along, or even dance, the Beboppers’ monthly event is for you! Started in 2009 by Chuck and Joyce Allen, the Beboppers caters to those who still love to dance to the music of the 50’s and 60’s. Once a month, the Coronado Center resonates with songs from Frankie Avalon, The Platters, Chuck Berry, Bobby Darin, The Beatles, Paul Anka, Elvis Presley, and many more singers that had a generation watching American Bandstand every week to learn the Stroll and the Twist.
The Beboppers proudly boast that these dances are the largest in HSV, averaging 140 people dancing, talking, and just having fun as they listen to the music that many of them grew up on. Of course, remembering that no one is as young as they used to be back then, the Allen’s alternate fast and slow songs and keep it going from 5:30 – 9:00 pm, through about 78 golden oldies. They even mix in some Cajun and country music to make sure everyone in the crowd gets to do their own favorite dances.
Around the Village once a month orange signs announce the next Beboppers dance. For $5, anyone can enjoy the trip down nostalgia lane. There is a cash bar, people can bring their own refreshments, and Domino’s Pizza even makes an exception to their delivery rules to bring pizzas to the Coronado Center for those who get really hungry when they dance!
