As for the subject at hand, the LA Kings are a warning to every championship winner in the near future: This is what may end up happening if you try to keep the band together for too long. You get a myriad of terrible contracts, stagnation, and a desire to live in the past. The current management core isn't entirely at fault for this, but they haven't exactly tried to extinguish the flames.
