At the core of a true grand maison lies a single guiding principle: to advance watchmaking as a whole. Even when a technology becomes obsolete, the greatest houses continue to pursue excellence in the traditional way — not out of necessity, but out of devotion to the craft.

In 1989, Patek Philippe set a benchmark for the ages with the Calibre 89, the most complicated watch ever created at the time. For more than two decades, no other maison surpassed that achievement.

Then, in 2015, Vacheron Constantin rose to the challenge with the groundbreaking Ref. 57260, a pocket watch boasting 57 complications — a feat that reset the limits of mechanical possibility.
Remarkably, just nine years later, Vacheron broke its own world record with the Berkeley Grand Complication, this time reaching an unprecedented 63 complications. In 2025, the maison continued its extraordinary trajectory, unveiling the Solaria, the most complicated wristwatch ever made, with 41 complications — yet another world record to its name.
