White Shadow To Quantum: Specifically The Pacific! (DJs Dives)

This week we finally leave the Linton Bay Marina for the last time. Our goal is to make it over to the Pacific side of Panama where we will meet up with SV Quantum, so we have arranged to get a ride over with Barry from Adventures of an Old Seadog. He needed some extra line handlers to go through the Panama Canal, and we needed a ride - so the timing couldn't have been better. To get to Barry's boat we cab over to the Shelter Bay Marina and wait for the rest of the line handlers to arrive.

Once the rest of the crew arrives we head out to to the start of the Panama Canal to meet up with our transit adviser. The Pilot boat is two hours late dropping off the adviser which brings us close to dusk. We set out from the to transit of the first portion of the canal in the dark!!

We sleep on Gatun lake which is a man made lake separating the East and West sides of the canal. We finish transiting the canal and enter the Pacific Ocean for good this time! We won't be seeing the Caribbean for a long time, as this sets of our journey across the Pacific Ocean.

By the time we get to the anchorage it is too late, and too dark to attempt transferring boats with our copious amounts of luggage, so we sleep on White Shadow for one more night. In the morning our new Captain Kevin from SV Quantum swings by in his dinghy and picks us and our luggage up. We are now officially on board our new boat and home while we are in the Pacific - a Beneteau Oceanis 51. The anticipation for the upcoming adventures is almost palpable!!
