How to Grow Garlic at Home and Get a Big Harvest!
1. Choose the Right Garlic Cloves
Use organic or high-quality garlic, avoiding store-bought ones treated to prevent sprouting.
Select the largest cloves, as they produce bigger bulbs.
2. Prepare the Soil
The soil should be loose, well-draining, and rich in organic matter.
Mix fertile soil with worm castings or organic compost.
3. Planting Garlic
Plant the cloves pointy side up, about 1-2 inches (3-5 cm) deep.
Keep a spacing of 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) between each clove.
4. Watering and Care
Water moderately, keeping the soil moist but not soggy.
Reduce watering in the last few weeks before harvest to improve garlic quality.
5. Sunlight Requirements
Garlic needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to grow well.
6. Growth Time
Garlic takes 4 to 7 months to mature, depending on the variety and climate.
7. Harvesting at the Right Time
Garlic is ready to harvest when the leaves start to turn yellow and dry out.
Gently pull the bulbs and let them dry in the shade for 2-3 weeks before storing.
