The Design of the Spanish "Gaudí" €2 Coin
In 2014, Spain commemorated the works of Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona with a €2 commemorative coin issued as part of its UNESCO World Heritage series. From among Gaudí’s diverse body of work, Park Güell was selected as the representative motif for the coin’s design. The coin features the salamander fountain and the turret of the porter’s lodge from Park Güell, a site created between 1900 and 1914.
