how to use the deeper chirp plus beam angles to find fishes. we will first do some basics on the three beam angles. so that we can use them effectively. the deeper chirp has three transmission cones that is three beam angles with seven degrees, 16 degrees and a wide one with 47 degrees.
if we compare the different angles then we notice the leap from 7 to 16 is not that large. on the other side from 16 to 47 is quite a big jump. a quick note whenever we mention predatory fish like, bass, pike or perch - of course it applies to any other predator or game fish as well.
let us take a quick look at the major differences at 3 beam angles. in this example we can only see this fish here with the narrow beam angle with the 16 degree beam angle. one more fish becomes visible. and with the 47 degree beam we can see the school of fish or school of roach.
a rather look at the wide transmission cone and beam angle in detail. with the larger transmission cone a larger area can be covered - hence more fish is visible. the more fish we can see the better. unfortunately the devil is in the details and that is what we will try to understand.
now we will use the wide beam angle and take this predator here for example. on the right side we have the depth range from 2 to 20 meters that is 7 to 66 feet on the left side.
our wide beam angle has a diameter of 1.7 meters or 5.6 feet in other words when the deeper is up here we can detect fish at a depth of 2 meters or 7 feet within a diameter of 1.7 meters or 5.6 feet.
think about it that means 6.5 meters or 22 feet from the center of the deeper towards all directions.
this is quite a large area we can cover with the deeper using the wide beam angle and it makes it possible to see clearly what is going on down there.
now one could assume that the wide beam angle is always the better option because we can see more fish. let us take this fish arch here as
