Hallberg Rassy HR 342 upekkha (Gelting & Sydfynske Øhav, Summer 2020)

Summer 2020 on a Hallberg Rassy 342, named upekkha. The sailing season was spent in Danish and German Baltic coastal waters, mostly in the so-called Sydfynske Øhav ("Dänische Südsee"). Sailing impressions are mixed with pictures taken during excursions on the beach or nearby areas. Very crude, quick and dirty editing. Not necessarily in chronological or geographic order. Just some snippets to convey the exhiliaration of cruising these beautiful waters...

The boat's name "upekkha" is derived from an ancient northern Indian term, denoting equanimity. The concept of upekkha is somewhat related to the notion of ataraxia in ancient Greek philosophy, a term literally translated as unperturbedness. The boat’s name refers to
a) the seaworthiness of the vessel, and
b) to the skipper’s state of mind achieved while sailing ;-)
