Celebration of Life | Funeral Service of the Late Jacqueline Martins Lutchman

Jacqueline Martins Lutchman was born to the Martins family in Cape Town on 14 June 1988. From birth she was the apple of her grandparent’s eye and her mother’s pride. Throughout her life, Jacqui was a diligent student with a strong personality. Her persistent nature was instilled in her by her mother. This was the foundation of her desire to achieve whatever goal she set her mind to.

Her love for academics led her toward Stellenbosch University where she achieved a BCom Honours Degree in 2010. Upon completing her degree, she was scouted by one of the Big Four Consulting firms, KPMG, where she began her career in IT Auditing. Along with this career path came a life-changing move to Durban. Her career brought her to Mr Price where she met many colleagues who became her “family” away from family . It was also here where she met the love of her life, Trimane Elijah Lutchman. Elijah and Jacqui bonded over their deep love for the Word of God, as they discussed the many lessons they were both learning in Bible School at the time. Over time this bond deepened into a love that led them down the matrimonial aisle in December of 2021. Whilst their
marriage was short, their love was deep.

Jacqui had a strong spirit of adventure that was instilled in her from the young age of 8 when her beloved grandmother, Maria José, took her on her very first trip to Madeira in Portugal. It was in this birthplace of Cristiano Ronaldo that Jacqui developed her love for the sport and the player. She enjoyed travel
immensely as she toured throughout Europe on the Contiki tour and even walked the grounds of the Holy Land of Israel. Jacqui was an avid reader and deeply loved animals and nature. She was a skilled ballroom dancer and enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, like capturing God’s goodness in a beautiful sunset or starlit sky.

In 2018, Jacqui received a devastating diagnosis of cancer and a brain tumor. Through the many operations and treatments, she was undeterred in her
passion for life. She held on to her many dreams of travel and building a life and home together with the love of her life. Her deep sense of love and commitment to God saw her holding on steadfastly to Him until her last breath on the
morning of the 10th November 2022.

Jacqui leaves behind her beloved husband, Elijah, her mother Maria Feliz, grandmother Maria José, her brother Christopher, cousins and a host of friends and relatives. Her church family of Durban Christian Centre and
The Embassy Church will surely miss her warmth and friendship.

Jacqueline Martins Lutchman, you are now free from the pains you have
had had to endure in your mortal body. Rest well now in the everlasting arms of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. We look forward to our eternal union on the Resurrection morning.
