John Bercow peerage blocked by Boris Johnson!

Poor old John Bercow, after all those tireless hours spent in the Speaker’s Chair trying to stop Brexit - he doesn’t get the obligatory move upstairs to the become a Lord.

When a Speaker of the House of Commons retires from the job, it is usual for them to be elevated to the House of Lords.

But John Bercow will become the first Speaker in centuries to have his peerage blocked, news that will be welcome to every Brexiteer in the land - as well as those who disapprove of his alleged bullying.

And worse for him, his own former party, the Tories didn’t nominate him, so it was left to the former leader of the opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, to do it for him, presumably in a fit of political pique or some such thing.
