Remembering Krystle Campbell on #OneBostonDay
On April 15, 2013, we lost one of our own. Krystle Campbell, a student in the College of Management, was cheering on her boyfriend at the Boston Marathon finish line when the bomb detonated. She was one of three innocent people who lost their lives on that day, and countless others were injured.
In her memory UMass Trustee Richard Campbell, a Medford, MA resident like Krystle, established a scholarship fund to support educational opportunities for students like her, pursuing a business degree at UMass Boston. Last year the fund made it possible for four students to be awarded $5,000 scholarships. Fourteen scholarships have been awarded to date. Money is raised for the fund through the "Run for Krystle Team," which has been participating in the Boston Marathon since 2014.
