So a Jesuit walks into a town with a sledgehammer...

A missionary priest in Togo received
an unexpected request: a local family wanted to
abandon their ancestral idols and embrace Christ. What
followed looked more like the lives of the saints than a
modern news story.

After Mass, hundreds of faithful processed from the
church to local homes where holy water and exorcised
salt were used before a shrine of idols was destroyed.
Father Peter, a visiting Jesuit priest, joyfully took up a
sledgehammer to smash the idols before the remains
were burned and a large cross was placed in the
rubble.

The scene recalls the courage of St. Boniface cutting
down the pagan oak tree, showing that the Catholic
faith is not merely historical but alive today. This
testimony highlights the power of prayer, sacramentals,
Catholic evangelization, deliverance from false
worship, and the call to bring families closer to Jesus
Christ. In a world filled with discouraging news, this
story is a bright reminder that Jesus is the victor.
