Initial N-1 Design, Anaglyph 3d
This is my take on the original design for the Soviet N-1 Moon Rocket. First stage only shown here. It has several features that differ from the final design, including:
6 less engines, (inner set is missing)
Smaller fouel line covers
and, most noticably:
An open hull section on the first stage!
This was apparently to improve the air flow. There's no documentation on where the air came out, but it had to be inside the reference ring (that locked the rocket onto the launch position), so I've put it towards the middle. The actual gap, and truss structure, is accurate and taken from declassified documents.
