How Does Flame Rectification Work On A Heating Season

Flame rectification is the process of changing an AC signal to a DC signal. During flame rectification, the ignition control will send an AC signal in the range of 90v to 120v, from the flame sense terminal. That signal is sent down the flame sensor wire and through the flame sensor, it is rectified using the flame as part of the circuit and allowing the signal to come in contact with ground. A good ground is very important in flame rectification.

In this video, the process of flame rectification is revealed on a unit heater.
