DJI Mavic Air 2 MALFUNCTION, Crash's into Water, LOST, & What DJI said...

IMPORTANT INFO: The drone was NOT returning to home nor was I flying the drone (note no controller in hand) at the time of the incident. The MA2 was in active track trace mode during accident. Despite the thumbnail this is actually a positive review of my experience with DJI.

I wasn't sure which way this video was going to go a few weeks ago. It was a a stressful few days while the fate of my drone flying future was in limbo. I may have been extremely lucky due to having multiple angles of the incident but rest assured DJI doesn't say all cases of "flyway's" (lost drones). I'm proof.

Ultimately I am not really sure why the drone was acting the way it was, as you watch the video you can see it acting erratic behind me. I've head speculation that flying over water disrupts the censors but nothing I can confirm to be true.

There are some what sound like extremely windy parts in the video and I can assure you that the wind was lass than 10 mph all day (just sounds loud/bad on a video mic) - I wouldn't be on the kayak during heavy winds as that makes for a crappy day most of the time.

I guess DJI will be using my flight records to improve the DJI fly app in future updates. I was in Active Track Trace mode at the time of the malfunction it should have stayed the same distance away from me as to where I had originally set it.
