Again, it is long and very detailed, but it is worth your time as these parts, even used, are quite expensive.

Most sellers have no idea what they are selling as they simply pulled it off an old Rover in a junk yard. It can be broken, and they have no idea. Even if they have a good understanding of Land Rovers, this is a complicated part, and very few sellers take the time to thoroughly inspect and test this part. And even if they do that properly, it is frequently damaged during shipping due to improper packing.

If you are looking for the 2006 or later column, it is essentially the same as far as the areas I tell you to note. The column has a different end and angle sensor, but the main issues/problems are the same as those I cover here.
