Outlaw to mummy: How Elmer McCurdy went from Oklahoma to the 'Six Million Dollar Man' and back
A bank and train robber, Elmer McCurdy was killed in a shootout in 1911. His mummified body became an attraction at carnivals and funhouses for years. But decades later in Los Angeles in 1976, his figure was thought to be that of a mannequin before it was identified as human flesh.
