REMINGTON ACCUTIP SABOT SHOTGUN SLUGS

John wanted to sight-in his new Mossberg 500 12ga hunting shotgun so we set up some interesting targets to show how much impact these rounds have. The stainless plate has been shot previously with a wax slug and a hardened-steel ball bearing shot from a 12 ga. shotgun. These sabot rounds definitely put a larger dent in the plate.

The AR500 ARMOR Level III plate not only stopped the round but captured the fragments with ease. It's quite a contrast between the splattering we saw on the bare SS plate and the AR500 Armor plate. This plate has a very tenacious rubber-like coating that prevents the bullet fragments from splattering outward. The steel plate is rated to stop bullets travelling up to 2800 fps. It performed exactly as it was designed to.

These sabot rounds are used for hunting medium to large game like deer and elk. John has said he has gotten clean kills at 200 yards and personally saw an elk taken down at 250 yards with these accurate, highly-rated rounds. They are designed to be shot out of a RIFLED shotgun to induce a spin on the bullet. If you shot them out of a smooth-bore shotgun, the bullets (slugs) would just fly sideways or tumble.
