AC-130U Spooky • 1A9X1 Special Missions Aviation Airmen

Footage of 1A9X1 Special Missions Aviation Airmen during preflight, ammo loading, and live fire training aboard an AC-130U Spooky Gunship at aerial gunnery range, Eglin Air Force Base, FL. The Spooky is equipped with a 105mm cannon, 40mm cannon, and a 25mm Gatling gun. Plus, it is equipped with sophisticated sensor, navigation and fire control systems to provide surgical firepower or area saturation during extended loiter periods, at night and in adverse weather. The sensor suite consists of a television sensor, infrared sensor and radar. These sensors allow the gunship to visually or electronically identify friendly ground forces and targets any place, any time. The Spooky Gunship has a crew of pilot, co-pilot, navigator, fire control officer, and electronic warfare officer (five officers) - flight engineer, TV operator, infrared detection set operator, loadmaster, and four aerial gunners (eight enlisted).
