The elephant is one of the most majestic animals in the African jungle. They are smart and strong mammals, yet incredibly vulnerable. The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the African savanna elephant as endangered, and the African forest elephant as critically endangered. This is primarily due to the lucrative ivory trade that has seen a wholesale slaughtering of elephants.
