This Incident happened in the Yala national sanctuary. This baby elephant had fallen on the ground with wounds. unfortunately this mother elephant was trying to take him back to his heard. Having watched the incident by a team of safari jeep quickly informed the Yala main wild life office. Latter the officers informed the veterinary doctor and his team. immediately doctor and his team attend to the matter. By that time mother elephant has not let anyone to get closer to the baby elephant. As the mother elephant was behaving aggressively is was rather the difficult for the team to take a calf for its mother. As there was not sufficient "enough" space for the calf in the cab, it had to be taken to a lorry for the convenient transport. The calf was suffered parasitic infectious diseases and injuries. Antibiotics, vitamins and fluid therapy were given to the calf to recover and be strong. After the treatments it become healthy gradually. After it speedy recovery medical team could start the milk feeding. since baby elephant was almost a week old its milk feeding was started with pediatrician NAN 1 milk. Having fed with NAN 1 for one month it was converted to the Lactogen 2 milk as the second stage. After the calf was fully recovered it was handed over to Ath Athuru Sevana elephant orphanage by veterinary team. Thanks a lot to the veterinary team for saving the innocent baby elephant from its pathetic situation.
