My first visit was in the summer and was before a logging company came through and cleared out a lot of the overgrown forest around the mine... It's far better for the health of the forest, but one kind of cool thing about the overgrown forest was that it was so dense that you almost felt like you were walking through a tunnel on the trail to the mill and then you would suddenly emerge into a clearing with the full view of the mill in front of you. Now, you can see the mill from quite a distance away, but before, you had to be almost on top of it before you could see it.

It was interesting seeing my father in the old video that I linked to. I didn't know it at the time, of course, but I believe that was the last trip that I ever did with him...
