PAUL BOGLE MONUMENT & CHURCH 1865 IN STONY GUT ST. THOMAS !!!

Constantine Bogle gave us a tour of the actual grounds where the Baptist Church actually stand back in the days of 1865 when Paul Bogle led over 500 Slaves from Stony Gut to Morant Bay. Paul Bogle was a very rich man and didnt have to do what he did. But the suffering of his people drove him to have a candle light vigil the night of October 10th 1865 and then the following morning led his people to Morant Bay to speak with the Oppressors. When he got there he was met with hostile behaviour and 7 of his men was shot and killed. This action angered the the rest of the slaves and they moved into action killing 30 judges,lawyers and Soldiers.Paul Bogle was hanged on October 24th 1865 24 hours after William Gordon
