How to Make a Compost Toilet from a Wheelie Bin | DIY
Compost toilets can be constructed with materials that can be obtained almost anywhere. To make a wheelie bin toilet, start by drilling a hole in the bottom of the bin and attaching a ball valve that will drain any excess liquid. A filter can be made within the bin, opposite the outer valve, using a piece of pipe.
Measure the corners of the wheelie bin and cut a standard pipe in half to fit in the bin's corners to aerate the compost. Slits should be cut every few cm in the pipe to allow air to reach the compost at all levels. The pipe can then be secured into the bin's corners.
Next, cut a piece of metal grill to fit within the pipes all the way to the bin's bottom. A piece of shade cloth should be wrapped around it at least twice.
Then take a second lid and cut a hole in it to accommodate the waste delivery pipe. When the bin is full, the original lid will be used to seal it for composting, and the active compost bin will be a new wheelie bin.
This is one of the most ethical ways to construct a compost toilet that is both safe and effective while using environmentally friendly materials.

Important Points to Remember:
• Upcycled materials can be used to make dry composting toilets, which are a safe and effective way to treat human waste.
• A valve at the bottom of a wheelie bin toilet is required to drain any extra liquid.
• To aid aeration, it requires slotted pipes going vertically along the corners and a metal grate at the bottom.
• The original top of the bin should be retained to close off the full compost bin, while a second lid should be installed to allow a waste delivery pipe to enter the bin.
• This is an ethical technique to dispose of human waste using environmentally friendly materials.
