How to draw Different Types of Smileys (cartoon happy faces)
How to draw very simple cartoon happy faces aka smileys!
In this video you can watch me draw:
- A standard simple smiley face
- A happy open-mouthed grinning smilie
- A happy birthday-themed smiley stick figure person
- A cute emoticon sticking his tongue out / teasing
- A range of personalized smileys: You can customize each smiley with little details to make it fit the person you're drawing it for!
Enjoy!

I made this drawing tutorial -esque video mostly because I wanted to learn how to make "watch me draw" videos: learn how to do the set up and everything. In case you're curious, it involved a tripod that was laid down on my bed with the camera attached to it, and a whiteboard positioned on the floor right below the bed, with me drawing sprawled on the floor. I added a lamp to help with lighting though despite the light being directly over the whiteboard, the video came out pretty dark for some reason and needed some post-editing to brighten it. In this video I also learned how to use the speed-up function in Cyberlink PowerDirector 13.
Sorry the quality isn't great - I used an old camera since it was the only one available at the time, and then also zoomed in on the drawing bit which made it a bit fuzzy / low res - still I think you can see the important things :)
