How to Adjust The Suspension on the 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650: How to Set Rear Shock Rebound and Preload

One of the nicest features of the 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650 is the new rear suspension adjustment. While you can't adjust the front forks at all, figuring out how to adjust the suspension on a 2022 KLR 650 is easy, at least in the rear. There are two adjustments, rear preload and rear rebound damping, and both can be changed quickly and easily without taking anything off of the bike and with simple hand tools that you have in your garage. To adjust the rear rebound on the 2022 KLR 650, you just turn a 12mm bolt on the top of the rear shock on the left side of the bike. A yellow indicators helps you see which of the five adjustment points you're currently in, and you just turn the 12mm socket to the right to tighten rear preload on your KLR 650 or turn it to the left to reduce KLR 650 rear preload.

On the other side of the third gen Kawasaki KLR 650 is the rear rebound damping adjustment. All you need is a flat head screwdriver to adjust the KLR 650 rear dampening. You simply find the screw adjuster at the bottom of the shock and turn it to the right or clockwise to increase rebound damping or turn it to the left to reduce KLR rear rebound dampening.

The 2022 KLR650 suspension adjustment is a quick and simple process that anyone can do, regardless of mechanical aptitude. I hope that following this video helps you figure out how to adjust the rear suspension on a KLR 650!
