This 4 minute 2D animated film consists of a snippet of an episode surrounding Swag and Cam, two ants who conflict over how to help each other. Inspired by works such as A Bug's Life, The Owl House, and Fionna and Cake, a continuation of this project would explore character relationships further, with the overarching impact of them being insects being a driving plot factor and worldbuilding device. Created over the course of 8 months, Under One Leaf is a culmination of my skills in art and animation.

Under One Leaf was born out of the documentation of an ongoing roleplay taking place on Tumblr. Starting July 20th, 2024, with the Ant Farm community, now replaced by Ant Mountain in January of 2025, the roleplay centers users acting out insect characters, mainly ants. As simple as this sounds, intense events such as cordyceps infections, antlections (ant elections), political tensions, and natural disasters take place regularly, but the user's role playing here were disorganized, individuals were able to start major events if enough others paid attention. As a result of all the chaos, a separate community was made, The Safe Zone, as a non-violent, more character focused, and more planned-out roleplaying group. These communities as a whole are an exploration of using solely insects and other arthropods as characters, how it can inspire setting, plot, and themes of a story.
