Happy chicken cam - Georgia

Welcome to our 24/7 live chicken cam! We have been broadcasting this live cam for quite a few years and hope you have enjoyed watching. Our 80+ laying hens run and play and lay eggs throughout the day. I hope to one day have a separate cam in one of the nest boxes. Some of the girls are older and no longer lay eggs, but they have a forever retirement home until they pass. The normal life of a chicken is 4 to 5 years, though some live longer and some less. Our oldest girl is a Buff Orpington, she is the yellow colored hen that waddles and walks a little slower than the rest. And she is nearing 10 years!!

Each day right before roosting time we collect eggs of blue, light brown, chocolate brown, light green, olive green, white, beige and cream. The egg color is determined by the breed of hen. Some of the breeds you will see in the run are:

Trivia fact: Hens need 14 hours of daylight to produce an egg. During the winter months, you will see bright fluorescent lights come on at 5 am in the morning in the coop and roosting area. The girls wake up and egg production hours begin!
