TRAVEL UPDATE 2020: STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO APPLY FOR DUAL CITIZENSHIP FOR THE PHILIPPINES

APPLICATION OF DUAL CITIZENSHIP

Advisory 33-2020

Effective 07 September 2020, the Consulate will start accepting new applications for citizenship reacquisition/retention under RA 9225 (commonly known as dual citizenship).
Applicants will be required to submit copies of the required documents via EMAIL for pre-processing and conditional approval. Once your application is conditionally approved, you will then be scheduled for the oath-taking ceremony at the Consulate starting on 07 October 2020. However, the number of people will still be limited due to social distancing rules.

During the day of the oath-taking, applicants are required to bring the necessary original documents for verification purposes and final approval. Failure to bring the original documents on the scheduled oath-taking may disallow the applicant to take the oath for citizenship reacquisition/retention. When this happens, the applicant may be rescheduled to another date until the original documents are presented.

1. Duly accomplished application form with attached photos.
2. Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA or formerly known as NSO).
You may get a copy of your Birth Certificate through the PSA website: www.psaserbilis.com.ph.
3. Marriage Certificate (if applicable):
a) If married in the Philippines- copy issued by the PSA/ NSO
b) If married in the US - copy issued by US government authority.
4. For divorced / annulled / widowed applicant, copies of the following documents,
whichever is applicable:
a) Divorce / Annulment decree.
b) Death Certificate of spouse.
5. US Naturalization Certificate.
6. Date page of Philippine passport (if available).
7. Data page of US passport (if available).
8. If the applicant is a registered alien with the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the applicant must
surrender the original ACR and ICR/CRTV, or in its absence, an affidavit explaining the loss of
said documents for onward transmittal to BI.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MINOR DERIVATIVES (17 years old and below)
1. Child’s Birth Certificate.
2. Child’s US Naturalization Certificate, if available.
3. Data page of US passport, if available.
4. Date page of Philippine passport, if available.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE DOCUMENTS BY MAIL.
PROCESSING FEE
Applications with conditional approval will be given instructions through email on how to pay their
application.
1. USD 50.00 for each primary applicant.
2. Additional USD 25.00 for each minor child or qualified beneficiary.
