Just see the case of Sanjay Manjrekar vs Ravindra Jadeja or the time Harsha Bhogle was removed from BCCI commentary for a year because he criticized Indian players. This was the strong Indian commentary platform laid out by Star Sports before IPL came over and BCCI took too much control of the commentators on what they could and could not say. Players in the earlier era including the likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman, Harbhajan, Kumble and others never questioned the experts whenever they were criticized. The experts did their job on TV and no one objected. The players have been criticized in far harsher manner than today and no one said anything. Today the players have more control and no commentator in India is bold enough to go against them which is why you will never find Ian Chappel or Michael Holding ever commentating in India for BCCI again!
