Sir Isaac Newton (4 January [O.S. 25 December] 1642 – 31 March 1727) was an English polymath known for his work as a mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, author, and inventor. He was a central figure in the Scientific Revolution and the subsequent Enlightenment. His 1687 book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) achieved the first great unification in physics and established classical mechanics. Newton also made seminal contributions to optics and shares credit with German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz for developing infinitesimal calculus—though Newton developed it years before Leibniz. 2. Optics (Light & Color)
He discovered that white light is a mixture of all colors, not pure or simple. Using a prism, he showed that each color has a unique refraction angle.
He invented the reflecting telescope (1668), which used mirrors instead of lenses to avoid color distortion. This design became standard in large astronomical observatories.
3. Mathematics (Calculus)
Newton developed infinitesimal calculus (which he called "fluxions") to solve problems in physics and geometry. Though he shared credit with Leibniz, Newton’s work on calculus began years earlier.
He also generalized the binomial theorem and advanced methods for finding roots of equations.
4. Scientific Method
