A major corruption scandal has surfaced in Lahore involving patwaris (land record officials). Despite being declared illegal by the Lahore Development Authority, several housing schemes are still issuing land ownership documents (fard) after taking bribes from citizens.

According to sources, patwaris in multiple tehsils are illegally charging the public for services that are supposed to be provided free of cost under the law. This has raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability in the land record system.

Following these complaints, Zahid Akhtar Zaman has taken notice and directed all Assistant Commissioners to computerize and digitize patwar records before June 30. Strict warnings have been issued, and officials failing to meet the deadline may face disciplinary action.

The public is demanding immediate action against corrupt officials and reforms in the patwari system to ensure fair and transparent services.
