DSP module interfaced into my Icom R71 RX

Had this small DSP module laying around and decided to put it to use in my old Icom radio. The module was designed in England by a now defunct manufacturer, Cumbria designs. It uses a PIC micro to implement a DSP audio processor with a choice of preset bandwidths, and although quite simple, it seems to do the raspberries rather well. I put the module in series with the Icom audio chain, adjusting a few resistors in the signal path to get the levels right. Useful? Will it improve the AM listening experience?
I dont know just yet. It does remove noise, but also creates artifacts of its own.
