gravity, concept for capture

In my demo I am using basic stuff found in and around the house. I am not an engineer and rather poor in constructing mechanical devices. Really!

The demonstration in words: a weight is attached to the rim of a bicycle wheel. The center of the wheel is attached to a rod. On top of that rod is a smaller wheel. The smaller wheel is free to move inside a bucket. The bucket is mounted up side down on a mobile kitchen stair. A plastic ring (remainder of a roll of tape) is used to push the rod less than or equal to 90 degrees towards 'in front of' the weight. So I am tilting the wheel approx 90 degrees, which will make the weight want to go to the new lowest point. While the weight is moving, I am repositioning the rod, and again (less than) 90 degrees up front of the weight.

What I am showing is the concept which is used in the WF Skinner and John device. And probably in other devices I don't know of. I am sharing this because I am no good at engineering mechanical devices, so if I can do this, you can do it to.

I have not yet got an idea of how I can attach a small motor to the small ring, so that I can measure the needed power. Same goes for the bottom, I am not sure how I will measure the power which can be taken off of the device to keep it running. I also have some problems with the weight. I tried increasing it, but the movement of the device (it is hopping all over the place) makes things difficult.

I am thinking of attaching a small rope to the ring, and mount the rope inside a bigger ring. The bigger ring should be able to rotate (I have a lot DC motors, left overs from small electrical devices). As it rotates, the rope will drag the rod into its constant changing new position.

To take power off of this system, I might try to use the wheel from my e-bike, how ever I will first check what RPM is needed to get some usable energy from that wheel, I am afraid the rotation will be way to slow.
