Amphibian Grand Caravan EX - Northwest Territory Tour

Come along for the ride to the land of the mid-night sun. Fly in to the Yellowknife Back Bay Seaplane base for a weekend of fellowship with seaplane aviators.

And catch a glimpse of some historic bush planes on floats, Buffalo Joe's 1946 Norseman and Warren Wright's 1929 Bellanca - both truly remarkable aircraft!

Best of all, we head out to Nonacho Lake fishing lodge with the Carter family and friend Alex to spend time in a place of silence, solitude, and peace. And to catch some incredible lake trout!! Myles, Dean, and Alex are all incredible fishermen and gave Alan, John and myself a great time on the lake.

The Cessna Grand Caravan EX, outfitted with WipAire 8750 Amphibian floats, gives best in class payload, speed, and range. There is not another float plane like it. With a useful load over 3000 pounds, this giant bushplane can comfortable cruise at speeds of 160 KIAS and greater. At 10,000 and torque on the 867 SHP Pratt & Whitney PT6A-140 engine rolled back to give a cruise speed of 150 KIAS, we were burning barely over 300 lbs/hr of Jet-A. That's half the fuel of a de Havilland Twin Otter with the same payload and still significantly faster.

You just can't match the performance of this plane for hauling passengers and supplies out to remote fishing lodges! Great job on this aircraft Textron Aviation and WipAire!
