Requests & Commands in English - Useful English Expressions

Requests & Commands in English - Useful English Expressions

In this lesson Niharika tells you how to make requests and commands and the difference between them.At times, you need help or a favor from someone and don't know how to express it politely.

Example : Could I have some water, please?

When you use 'could' it's very polite and respectful. Using 'can' is correct too.
But, 'could' is more formal and polite.

Example : Would you mind helping me?
Use the structure 'would you mind' to make a polite request.

Commands : are statements made when you want someone to do something.
Commands are imperative sentences (without a subject)

For example : Don't talk in class. (a teacher doesn't say 'you don't talk in class')
For example : give me a glass of water.
