MALAYSIA Pangkor | Female Backpacker Tries Malaysian Food on Stunning Island

Any backpackers figuring out where to travel in Malaysia? Want to visit a quiet Malaysian island with clean beaches, and few tourists... and need to know what to eat when visiting Malaysian islands? Here is my first Malaysian food review, based on the delicious meals I enjoyed on Pangkor Island during my four day stay at Teluk Nipah. In, this video, we try fresh coconut, Nasi Lamak, Teh Tarik, Crab Curry, Tom Yam Kung, Sago Gula Melaka, and Banana Fritters.

Teluk Nipah has an incredible selection of local Malasian dishes that cater to local and international tourists. Teluk Nipah has a central strip filled with street side restaurants that offer all kinds of seafood dishes, the specialty of Pangkor as an island that thrives off of its fishing trade. I tried teh tarik. Malaysian laksa soup, Nasi Lamak, and an interesting seafood Tom Yam Kung filled with huge prawns and tomato!

Not too far from Teluk Nipah, the western coast of Pulau Pangkor, sits Daddy's Cafe, a luxury restaurant which serves seafood curry, Indian dahl curries, and delicious desserts including sago gula melaka and banana fritters with ice cream! If you want to enjoy a sunset on Coral Beach, you might as well do it from Daddy's Cafe with a cocktail or freshly squeezed fruit juice in your hand!

Hiring a motorbike on Pangkor Island is a must. New friend Kenny and I headed to China Town on Pangkor located on the eastern part of of Pangkor Island. It's much easier to visit restaurants located around the island if you can drive around and explore yourself, or better still, visit with locals who already know where to go! We visited the Restoran Chang Hong where we ate Tom Yam Kung with noodles and seafood!
