Quest for Adirondack 46er: WHITEFACE and ESTHER MOUNTAINS // Winter hike in the Adirondacks

Hiking the Adirondack High Peaks to Become a 46er - Whiteface and Esther Mountains in the winter

Our hike started at the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC) located just outside Lake Placid, NY and started with a steep climb up the old ski lift on Marble Mountain. Fresh snow made the hike a bit more challenging and more beautiful. We climbed Esther after passing the trail junction for the Wilmington Reservoir Trail.

The approach up Whiteface was epic. The exposure combined with 45 mph winds and snow made it a dramatic finish to the climb.

Follow our quest to become ADK 46ers, climbing all 46 High Peaks in the High Peaks Wilderness Area in the northeastern region of the Adirondack Park.
