Covid-19 Ravages India's Health Workers, Dr KK Aggarwal Among Over 200 Doctors Dead In Second Wave

Padma Shree Awardee Dr KK Aggarwal succumbed to Covid-19 on May 17. Despite being fully vaccinated, Dr Aggarwal contracted the virus and was on a ventilator for a week. Dr Aggarwal, who founded the Heart Care Foundation, was a prominent face of the medical fraternity in the country. On May 16, India lost at least 50 doctors due to Covid-19. The country has lost as many as 244 doctors in the second wave of the pandemic. State-wise data shows Bihar leading the list of medics dying due to Covid-19, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. According to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), only 3% of them were fully vaccinated.
