Off Grid Micro Hydro Turbine Fine Tuning (13.25% Increase In Efficiency)

In the last hydro video i asked if you wanted a tuning video. when i first powered up the turbine i paid no attention to the jet hight and just wanted to see how much effect them being out would make. In this video we tune the water jet hight so it is interacting with the spoon at the optimum point. It turns out that is makes a considerable differance and we added 13% efficiency at the top of the range so about 30% extra in the middle of the range witch is a considerable increase. I will be doing more testing with my friend john to work out exactly what the best hight for the jets is and will produce that info at some point.

In the next video we will reduce the sharp bends and see if we can squeeze out a few more watts. If we could get 500w from it at the same flow then it would be running very efficient. Im not 100% sure of the flow rate yet But i think its around 4.5 liters per second at the moment so about 60% efficient at the top end and over 70% in the middle So it is working very very well.

At 450W this turbine will produce 10.8 KWH of electricity a day. That is only 1 KWH below the Average household daily use in the UK Mean my turbine at full power would power an average house in this country.
