On their sports talk show, It's What It Is, hosts Cam'ron and Mase are both captivating, and they don't just speak about sports. They talked about the latter's attendance at the funeral of Voletta Wallace, the late and renowned Biggie Smalls' mother, at one point in their most recent episode. He felt that the Jacksonville native's criticism of Diddy and their falling out over Bad Boy Records likely generated problems, so Killa Cam once challenged his cohost about the claims that he sat next to one of Sean Combs' kids during his legal scandal. Despite his denial of these reports, he made a startling admission as a result. "I mean, if my name was on the list, I'd go visit Puff, you know?" Mase remarked concerning Diddy. "Yeah, I would visit him, make sure he was good." Then, referring to their Bad Boy conflicts, Cam'ron questioned why he didn't do it when he was out. The crew of It's What It Is laughed heartily over it before the Harlem World MC went on:
"These are the times when you need people to check up and make sure you're good, you know? And not that I condone anything that they're alleging him to have done. It's just, until they prove it, you kind of want to make sure that you don't be like one of those people that somebody did good for you. "He didn't do all bad, he did some good," Mase continued. "Definitely did some good. Yeah, I ain't talking about the tape stuff and all of that. giving me an opportunity. As a personal class, I don't know if he's innocent. JD most likely Jermaine Dupri put more money in my pocket, but Puff definitely gave me an opportunity. Me getting money from Dupri due to the Diddy connection definitely got something to do with it." The two discussed the prevalence of a "guilty until proven innocent" mindset that runs counter to conventional notions of justice. It would be fascinating to watch if Mase's record were to be released on the day of Diddy's trial. Even if there are issues between the two, there is still empathy and gratitude there that does not aim to justify claimed heinous behavior, even if the lyrics make reference to the circumstance.
