There will be ‘significant attention’ on WA amid Brereton report
The PR Counsel’s Kristy McSweeney says there will be “significant attention” on Western Australia amid the Brereton report into alleged war crimes committed by ADF personnel.
The report detailed findings of the investigation and revealed “credible” information which indicated Australian soldiers had engaged in the “unlawful killings” of 39 individuals.
“This is a huge story here in Perth … we do have the Special Air Service Regiment based at Swanbourne on Perth’s beaches,” Ms McSweeney told Sky News.
“Perth is very protective of its SAS, it takes great pride in the SAS regiment being stationed at Swanbourne … it’s a huge part of the fabric of our community.
“So there will be significant attention on WA.”
