Holding and then circling approach and landing runway 09 Iraklion Nikos Kazantzakis (HER LGIR). 2018

It doesn't happen very often, but today we received a clearance for the VOR B approach towards runway 09. This means the last part will be a circling approach which is done visually. Since the change just came in effect, all aircraft needed to hold above ADORI.
You can hear a busy airspace and everybody is making a plan....

We for example expected an approach runway 27... now we had to hold for runway 09 and our alternate will be behind us instead of straight ahead. How long is this going to last and how much fuel/time do we have before we have to make a diversion.

This makes it an interesting approach.

This is old footage I never uploaded. (Don't ask me why...) This flight was flown on the 21ste of may 2018. Flown on the Boeing 737-800 PH-HZN.
