In this video the Dyson v6 is pulsing which means there is a blockage. Also the brush does not always spin. The video shows you how to take apart the Dyson and how to remove the common blockage points.
Although this is a Dyson v6 the same principles can also be used for the Dyson v7 v8 v10 V11 which are very similar design.

Every Step Detail:
1. Remove the vacuum tube and test
Remove the vacuum tube and turn the Dyson on.
If the Dyson is still pulsing then the blockage is inside the main Dyson body.
2. Take apart the filter
Pull the top of the filter upwards to withdraw it from the Dyson body.
Although the filter looks fairly clean on the outside, the inside of the filter can fill up with debris and can cause the Dyson pulsing problem.
Use a small flat bladed screw driver to carefully lever the top part of the filter over the retaining clips. Do this to all 4 clips.
Once all 4 clips are levered free pull the 2 parts of the filter apart.
3. Clean or Replace the filter
Give the filter a good shake to remove most of the dust and then use a screwdriver or similar to pluck away any debris stuck at the end of the filter.
Now at this point you should either give the filter a really good wash in water and allow to fully dry before refitting into the Dyson or you could buy a new filter which are only about a couple of pounds online. Please note if you do wash the filter you really need to let it fully dry because a damp filter can actually cause the Dyson to pulse.
So insert the male and female parts of the filter together and rotate to align the 4 clips with the recesses then push together until the clips are in place.
4 Test the Dyson
Reinstall the filter into the Dyson body.
Turn on the Dyson to see if the pulsing problem is fixed.
As you can see the vacuum cleaner sucks well without pulsing so the cause must have been the blocked filter – which is the cause for the pulsing problem nine times out of ten.
5 Check other blockage points
The other main blockage points that cause these Dysons cordless vacuum cleaners to pulse is at the neck of the Dyson body which connects to the vacuum tube. Look down the neck of the main body to see if any debris has collected there.
Simply use a screw driver or similar to either push any collected debris back into the dust box or pluck out through the neck.
Other potential blockage points are in the vacuum tube or the vacuum brush head. Simply look through the air passage ways to see if there is any debris build up. There are cover plates on the brush head that can be unscrewed to remove a blockage if needs be.
6 Clean the brush head
As you can see there is lots of air that is wrapped around the brush and no doubt causing too much resistance and causing the brush to spin intermittently.
So first of all, twist the cover plate retention clip a quarter turn anti clockwise and lift out the cover plate.
Then twist the brush end plate a quarter of a turn anti clockwise and remove the end plate.
You can now withdraw the brush.
As you can see it is quite badly wrapped with hair all the way along the brush bristle part.
The easiest way to remove the hair is to use scissors to cut the hair in between one of the gaps between the bristles. Then you can simply pull the hair free of the brush. Be careful not to cut the brush bristles with the scissors!
There is also hair build up at the brush ends which is normally the reason why the brush stops to spin – because there is too much friction caused by the hair build up spinning against the inside of the brush head. Again, use scissors or similar to remove the hair that is wrapped around the ends of the brush.
Finally use a flat head screw driver to prize off hair wrapped around the brush end cap bush.
Then reassemble the brush head – slide the brush into the brush head and locate into brush helical support. Locate the end cap onto the end of the brush and then locate into the brush head body. Then twist the screw cap quarter of a turn clockwise to secure. Then locate the cover plate into position and twist the retaining clip quarter of a turn clockwise to secure.
7 Reassemble the Dyson components
Clip together the vacuum tube to the brush head
And then clip the vacuum tube to the Dyson body.
