Which Martial Art is the Best? The Perfect Ratio for MMA

It must be our competitive nature as fighters that we often argue which martial art is the best. Be it for MMA or street fighting, there are pros and cons of every single martial art. No one will disagree that boxing is great for footwork, head movement and punch combos. However it teaches you nothing about takedown defense or submissions. You get the idea I'm trying to make. I will say that some are more PRACTICAL than others for MMA and street fighting. Think about it: there is a reason you see Muay Thai and BJJ more than anything else. It's very well-rounded and balanced. Yet the guys that incorporate the unique stuff are the guys that become champions.

Lyoto Machida (Karate), Anderson Silva (Taekwondo), etc. -- they bring something new to the table; a strike that their opponent isn't used to defending against, for instance. But remember: one of the most important factors of training under specific styles is that you are training properly and realistically. If you're training for a MMA rules fight, then practice your TKD or Kung Fu in MMA sparring. You can't expect to practice one form and think you can beat someone who has mastered 3.
